Plane-Strain Tension (PST) Testing
It is not easy to achieve the “plane-strain tension” loading condition, where minor strains are close to zero. We have optimized sample geometries and testing approaches in order to achieve the desired PST deformation mode to support fracture model calibration efforts
- Custom tests with optimized PST sample geometries (for different metallic materials)
- Several approaches: pull testing of notched samples as well as sheet stretching via Marciniak and Nakajima punches.
- Evaluation of fracture strain limits under PST loading with stress triaxialities approaching 0.57 (support the calibration of fracture models _ GISSMO)
- Quasi-static rates, as well as intermediate and high rates
